TUI Airways: network and rights at a glance

- Alliance
- None (not in Star Alliance, oneworld or SkyTeam)

- No single hub: base-network operator
Not a member of Star Alliance, oneworld or SkyTeam. Operates a base network rather than a classic connecting hub system, so check the operating airline and the exact airports on your booking.
Which rules can apply to TUI Airways flights
TUI Airways is registered here as a UK carrier.
- UK261 can apply when this UK carrier departs the UK, arrives in the UK from abroad, or arrives in the EU from abroad.
- EU261 can apply to its flights that depart from an airport in an EU member state (plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland), whichever airline operates them.
- Whether a given flight is covered still depends on the operating carrier, the airports, the delay at final arrival and the stated cause.
This is orientation from the carrier's registration, not advice on a specific flight. Use the calculator for a preliminary check.

TUI Airways: how to prepare your claim
Booking a TUI holiday does not necessarily mean TUI operated the flight. Check the airline on the itinerary before using TUI's flight-delay form. The form is a flight-rights channel; an issue with the hotel, transfer or cruise is not automatically part of the same compensation request.
Follow the flight-delay form's current instructions
Use TUI's flight-delay claim page with the affected flight number and passenger details. Its current cancellation instructions ask claimants to wait 72 hours before submitting; that is an intake instruction, not a limit on the underlying right. Keep the cancellation notification and original schedule. If a different airline carried you on the TUI package, use that operating airline's claim route instead.
Manchester to Cancún is not the same case as the holiday complaint
On an illustrative TUI Airways-operated Manchester–Cancún journey, the UK departure is relevant even though Mexico is outside Europe. A return flown by the UK company also needs a UK-carrier assessment. The wider TUI group includes other national airlines, so do not assign every TUI-branded flight the UK's carrier status. Separate a lost resort night from meals and accommodation needed while waiting for replacement transport.
TUI publishes two different response statements
TUI's delay-information page says it aims to process claims within 14 days, while its post-submission FAQ says a response will arrive within 56 days. Present these as the airline's published statements, not a guaranteed two-week payout or a measured average. Save the acknowledgement. If the final reply cites extraordinary circumstances, check its flight-specific reason and whether your separate reasonable-care costs were addressed.
