Which rules can apply to Norwegian flights
Norwegian is registered here as an EU/EEA-regime carrier.
- EU261 can apply to departures from EU airports on any airline, and to arrivals into the EU from outside the EU when an EU carrier operates the flight.
- UK261 can apply to this EU carrier on departures from UK airports and on arrivals into the UK from abroad.
- Whether a given flight is covered still depends on the operating carrier, the airports, the delay at final arrival and the stated cause.
This is orientation from the carrier's registration, not advice on a specific flight. Use the calculator for a preliminary check.

Norwegian: how to prepare your claim
Norwegian's claim guidance makes an important distinction between fixed compensation and reimbursement of expenses. Norway participates in the European passenger-rights framework through the EEA, so a Norwegian-operated flight is not excluded simply because Norway is outside the EU. Still check the operating entity and the actual route.
Use the delay or cancellation claim route
From Help and contact, choose the claim for the relevant disruption. Norwegian's cancellation guidance directs passengers to the online request for expenses or compensation and asks for itemised receipts. A ticket refund has a separate flow. If you accepted a replacement service, include its details and explain the remaining request. List care expenses individually; an unexplained total makes it harder to distinguish reasonable meals and transport from unrelated holiday spending.
Oslo travel: preserve the replacement offer
For travel through Oslo or a Scandinavian base, keep both the original flight notice and the alternative offered. If the alternative arrived sooner than a service you selected later, explain why you chose differently: it can affect which expenses are attributable to the disruption. If weather is cited, ask for the specific event affecting your flight. Do not assume separately bought onward tickets receive the same connection protection as a single through booking.
European scope and tracking a sent claim
Norwegian publishes its EU/EEA passenger-rights rules, including qualifying inbound flights. A UK departure requires a UK261 check; for an arrival into Britain, verify the operating company rather than making a blanket brand-level assumption. Norwegian's Case Status Search uses the ticket ID assigned to the claim. We have no verified current average payment time. Use that ID for progress checks and retain any written explanation if the claim is declined or only partly settled.
