Short answer

IndiGo passengers should keep the booking, airline notice, flight number and replacement offer. Domestic India disruption questions can involve India-specific care, refund or escalation information rather than an EU261 amount. FlightRefundCalc provides preliminary educational information, not a claim decision or payment guarantee.

Which rules can apply to IndiGo flights

IndiGo is not registered here as an EU or UK carrier.

  • EU261 and UK261 generally apply to its flights only when they depart from an airport in the EU/EEA/Switzerland or the UK.
  • Flights on this airline that arrive in the EU or UK from elsewhere are generally outside EU261/UK261, but other national or contractual rules may apply.
  • Check which airline operated each leg: a code-share ticket can combine carriers with different coverage.

This is orientation from the carrier's registration, not advice on a specific flight. Use the calculator for a preliminary check.

Where IndiGo takes claims

Official claim channel, as reviewed by us: www.goindigo.in. Use Customer Grievance Redressal; the page lists the customer experience, nodal and appellate escalation channels. Link last reviewed 2026-09-29.

Alliance, group and hub facts last checked against Wikipedia: IndiGo. These are not delay statistics: FlightRefundCalc does not publish punctuality or compensation-outcome figures for IndiGo.

IndiGo: how to prepare your claim

IndiGo claims require special attention to the operating arrangement as well as the 6E marketing number. Keep the ticket's operating-carrier text, particularly for an international partnership or leased-aircraft service. Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM) and other Indian connections should be shown with the original booking, rather than assuming every sector has identical rules.

Start with Customer Grievance Redressal

IndiGo's official Contact Us page lists the initial Customer Experience channel, followed by the Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority. Send the flight, PNR, disruption date and requested remedy through the first stage; retain the complaint reference and written answer before escalating. The Passenger Charter links the same sequence. Use current contact details on the official page rather than an old officer's name copied from a forum.

Do not infer EU status from the aircraft or flight code

An IndiGo-operated departure from the EU can be covered by EU261 and a UK departure by UK261. A standalone India-to-Europe flight operated by IndiGo is not covered merely because it arrives there. Where a partner or leasing arrangement appears on the booking, establish the legally responsible operating carrier before applying inbound-carrier rules. A foreign aircraft registration alone does not settle that question.

Challenge a classification with documents

If the response applies only Indian domestic rules, compare that with the affected international departure and operating arrangement. If a missed connection is rejected as separate travel, supply the original itinerary showing how it was sold. IndiGo also publishes a specific Norse-service passenger notice; use it where that service actually applies. We have not verified one compensation-processing deadline across all these cases, so follow the acknowledgement and escalation instructions for your complaint.

Prepare your claim letter

Use the facts before you act

Use this guide as a preparation checklist. Confirm the flight was operated by IndiGo, retain the itinerary and disruption notice, and distinguish compensation, care, refund and rerouting questions. The free letter tool prepares a factual request for the airline's official channel without uploading documents to this website. A reliable request starts with a timeline rather than a conclusion. Compare the scheduled departure and arrival with the actual final arrival, write down when the airline gave notice, and keep any email, app message or airport notice. If an alternative flight was offered, record its proposed arrival and whether you accepted it. If you paid reasonable expenses while waiting, keep the itemised receipt and the reason it was necessary. These facts can support different questions about care, rerouting, refund or a possible statutory framework, but they do not automatically establish every remedy. For a connection, the final ticketed destination and whether all flights were on one booking can be as important as the first disrupted segment. A short departure delay may still create a material final-arrival difference; conversely, an earlier delay does not answer the whole question by itself. For a cancellation, notice timing and the replacement journey should be recorded separately. For denied boarding, distinguish an airline-imposed situation from a voluntary change. A schedule change may need the original itinerary, the revised itinerary and the point at which the passenger was informed. These distinctions help avoid a misleading one-size-fits-all result.

Worked example

Worked example: a IndiGo passenger receives a cancellation message and a replacement option. Record the notice time, the route, original and replacement arrival, and whether the alternative was accepted. Those facts help the calculator show a preliminary route while the airline's written cause remains a necessary condition.

A practical evidence checklist

Write down the scheduled and actual timing, preserve the airline’s notice, and keep the booking, boarding or check-in proof, replacement offer and reasonable expense receipts. These records help explain what happened to the airline. They are not uploaded to FlightRefundCalc, and the site does not file a claim or decide an outcome.

Keep the legal questions separate

A disruption can create different questions about care while waiting, refund versus rerouting, a possible statutory compensation framework and expenses. An airline’s written explanation may affect one question without deciding all the others. Use official authority guidance and qualified advice for a decision with legal or financial consequences.

Check your own journey, not an example.

The calculator asks for the operating carrier, route, notice and disruption facts before showing a preliminary result. It does not guarantee compensation.

Common questions

Does this airline page guarantee compensation?+

No. It is an educational framework page. The operating carrier, route, disruption facts, notice, final arrival, rerouting and the airline's written reason can all matter.

Why does the operating airline matter?+

The airline that operated the disrupted flight can be different from the ticket seller or a code-share marketing carrier. Keep the itinerary and disruption notice before you submit a request.

What should I keep?+

Keep booking confirmation, check-in or boarding evidence, the airline notice, scheduled and actual timing, rerouting offers and reasonable expense receipts. Do not upload personal documents to this website.

Where should I send a request?+

Start with the airline's current official channel. Use the free letter toolkit to prepare a factual request, then check the airline's own current instructions before submitting personal information.
