JFK–CDG: distance and itinerary

The great-circle distance between JFK and CDG is approximately 5,833 km, in the over 3,500 km band. This endpoint calculation does not add detours. For a through connection, check the original departure and last ticketed destination before selecting a compensation band.

What makes this airport pair different

Air France publishes Paris services to both JFK and Newark. CDG–JFK is the pair assessed here: selecting New York as a city does not make the two airports interchangeable. Keep a screenshot of any rebooking to EWR and ask how the airline will complete the agreed journey.

Which rules to test for JFK → CDG

For a standalone JFK–CDG arrival from outside Europe, EU261 generally requires an eligible EU/EEA or Swiss operating carrier. A European ticket seller is insufficient. Keep any compensation or assistance already received under another country's rules in the evidence record.

Connections, alternatives and useful evidence

A domestic French feeder on the same reservation can make JFK the relevant final destination even when the disruption occurred before CDG. A separate train ticket to Charles de Gaulle is different. On the US departure, check Air France versus a partner operating the flight; the seller's logo does not settle EU coverage.

CDG: arrival and onward travel

At Charles de Gaulle, “Terminal 2” is not precise enough to plan a disrupted connection. Keep the complete terminal and gate designation and follow the airport's connecting-flight route rather than assuming the arrivals exit is the quickest way.
