FRA–DXB: distance and itinerary

The great-circle distance between FRA and DXB is approximately 4,844 km, in the over 3,500 km band. This endpoint calculation does not add detours. For a through connection, check the original departure and last ticketed destination before selecting a compensation band.

What makes this airport pair different

Frankfurt–Dubai combines an EU departure with a non-EU hub. Emirates is a route example; its non-European nationality does not remove protection on departure from FRA. Do not carry that conclusion over automatically to the Dubai-origin return. The operator and the direction must be read together.

Which rules to test for FRA → DXB

FRA is an EU/EEA departure, so EU261 scope does not depend on the operating airline being European. For FRA–DXB, test the actual disruption and cause next. If another regime also applies, the same disruption is not an invitation to collect duplicate compensation.

Connections, alternatives and useful evidence

If Dubai was a transfer on a through ticket to Asia, use the last ticketed airport rather than stopping the delay clock at DXB. A German rail connection to Frankfurt needs its own booking terms checked. Keep evidence of an offered Munich departure and any travel needed to reach that replacement airport.

DXB: arrival and onward travel

Dubai International has three terminals, and a terminal number is different from a concourse or gate letter. Record both when a disruption moves your departure: T3 with a different concourse is not the same change as a transfer from T2 to T3.
