CDG–JFK: distance and itinerary

The great-circle distance between CDG and JFK is approximately 5,833 km, in the over 3,500 km band. This endpoint calculation does not add detours. For a through connection, check the original departure and last ticketed destination before selecting a compensation band.

What makes this airport pair different

Air France publishes Paris services to both JFK and Newark. CDG–JFK is the pair assessed here: selecting New York as a city does not make the two airports interchangeable. Keep a screenshot of any rebooking to EWR and ask how the airline will complete the agreed journey.

Which rules to test for CDG → JFK

CDG is an EU/EEA departure, so EU261 scope does not depend on the operating airline being European. For CDG–JFK, test the actual disruption and cause next. If another regime also applies, the same disruption is not an invitation to collect duplicate compensation.

Connections, alternatives and useful evidence

A domestic French feeder on the same reservation can make JFK the relevant final destination even when the disruption occurred before CDG. A separate train ticket to Charles de Gaulle is different. On the US departure, check Air France versus a partner operating the flight; the seller's logo does not settle EU coverage.

JFK: arrival and onward travel

At New York JFK, changing terminals commonly involves the AirTrain and a new terminal entry process. A booking marketed as “New York” can also include Newark or LaGuardia, which are separate airports rather than JFK terminals.
