VIE: connections and disruption help
Vienna's gate letters matter more than a remembered check-in terminal. Connections between the C/D and F/G areas may use the airport's transfer shuttle, so check the new gate before following your original route.
Read the gate letter after rebooking
The airport describes C and F areas for Schengen movements and D/G handling for relevant non-Schengen departures; follow the actual flight display because the assigned gate controls your journey. A change between the C/D and F/G piers is not simply a move to the next numbered gate. Ask transfer staff whether the shuttle is the appropriate route for your boarding pass and current location.
Do not leave transit merely to find a desk
If a replacement boarding card has not appeared in the app, ask the transfer desk or departure gate team. Vienna's connection guide explains how to get an onward boarding pass, and staff can direct you without an unnecessary trip to the public check-in hall. If bags were checked only to VIE or the flights were purchased separately, confirm the reclaim and re-check process instead.
Record the pier change and new destination timing
For a missed connection, keep both gate letters, the arrival stand or bus transfer, and any shuttle instruction. Ask the airline whether the proposed rerouting is confirmed through to the original final airport. Bratislava is a different airport, so a BTS alternative requires a separate transport and baggage plan. Compare the actual final-arrival time, not just whether the replacement leaves Vienna sooner.

Departing from VIE
A journey departing Vienna International Airport normally starts with the EU261 route test. The operating carrier, final ticketed destination, timing and airline-recorded cause still determine the next step.
Arriving at VIE
For a flight arriving at VIE from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, identify whether the operating airline is an EU/EEA/Swiss carrier. The marketing airline on the ticket may be different.
