ORY: connections and disruption help

Paris-Orly uses numbered departure areas Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4. Older references to Orly Ouest or Sud can be confusing during a cancellation; start with the area printed on the new boarding pass.

Distinguish an Orly move from a Paris move

Changing between Orly's numbered areas is not the same as changing to Charles de Gaulle. Ask staff to state ORY or CDG explicitly when they offer a replacement. The useful comparison is the complete trip, including ground travel, baggage collection and the new check-in cutoff. Do not accept a “Paris departure” on the assumption that you can simply walk to another gate.

Allow for the next flight's formalities

A connection to a Schengen destination and a flight outside Schengen can use different processing routes. Follow the signs for your actual destination and check whether the onward boarding pass has been issued. If you arranged the flights independently, ask the first airline where the bags will be delivered and verify the second airline's baggage acceptance deadline before committing to an alternative.

Preserve the Orly-specific disruption record

Save the numbered departure area, airline desk location, original notice and each replacement itinerary. If rerouted to CDG, get the transport instructions and responsibility for payment in writing; keep receipts tied to that transfer. If an airport timetable and airline message differ, capture both with timestamps and request clarification. The airport information desk can help you locate the airline, while refund and rebooking decisions belong with the ticket or operating carrier as appropriate.

A dated runway-works notice, not a blanket excuse

The French transport ministry's August 2026 notice scheduled runway 4 closure through 17 December 2026, with traffic using runways 2 and 3. If your affected date falls within that period, preserve the notice alongside the airline's specific explanation. It does not by itself establish the cause of your flight's delay or decide compensation; the individual flight and recovery measures still need assessment.

Departing from ORY

A journey departing Paris Orly Airport normally starts with the EU261 route test. The operating carrier, final ticketed destination, timing and airline-recorded cause still determine the next step.

Arriving at ORY

For a flight arriving at ORY from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, identify whether the operating airline is an EU/EEA/Swiss carrier. The marketing airline on the ticket may be different.
