LAX: connections and disruption help
LAX's current inter-terminal guidance describes connected post-security walkways across the terminals, following its 2023 changes. Older advice that always requires exiting security between the north and south terminals can be out of date.
Check whether you are already in the secure area
The airside walking route can help an eligible passenger with an onward boarding pass, but an international arrival still needs its required arrival formalities. Ask staff where your route begins after immigration, customs and any baggage handover. Do not interpret connected terminals as permission to skip those steps. The full walk between distant terminals is substantial; use the official map and request mobility assistance if needed.
The check-in terminal and aircraft gate may differ
LAX notes that some Terminal 1 passengers are taken to Terminal B West Gates for their flight. Read both the check-in instruction and boarding gate when a replacement is issued. Going directly to the aircraft's concourse without completing the required check-in can cause another problem. If you need the public terminal shuttle, verify the pickup point and leave time for security again.
Keep Los Angeles-area airports separate
Burbank, Long Beach and Ontario are not LAX terminals. Ask for an explicit transport and bag-delivery plan if an alternative uses BUR, LGB or ONT. Retain the new gate, terminal shuttle instruction, baggage receipt and actual onward arrival. When describing a missed connection, distinguish time spent clearing US arrival formalities from time spent walking between terminals.

Departing from LAX
A U.S. departure does not create an EU/UK-style fixed delay payment. U.S. DOT rules focus on refunds after cancellations or significant changes and on involuntary denied boarding; an EU or UK connection can change the framework.
Arriving at LAX
If LAX is the final destination, keep the scheduled and actual door-open or arrival record. Coverage can come from the departure country or operating carrier rather than this airport's location.
