Which rules can apply to ITA Airways flights
ITA Airways is registered here as an EU/EEA-regime carrier.
- EU261 can apply to departures from EU airports on any airline, and to arrivals into the EU from outside the EU when an EU carrier operates the flight.
- UK261 can apply to this EU carrier on departures from UK airports and on arrivals into the UK from abroad.
- Whether a given flight is covered still depends on the operating carrier, the airports, the delay at final arrival and the stated cause.
This is orientation from the carrier's registration, not advice on a specific flight. Use the calculator for a preliminary check.

Guides relevant to ITA Airways
Route guides through FCO
Route guides are not specific to ITA Airways: several airlines fly most of these routes, so confirm the operating carrier on your booking.
Alliance, group and hub facts last checked against Wikipedia: ITA Airways, Star Alliance. These are not delay statistics: FlightRefundCalc does not publish punctuality or compensation-outcome figures for ITA Airways.
ITA Airways: how to prepare your claim
For ITA Airways, Rome Fiumicino is the hub to document when a domestic connection disrupts an international trip. Keep the AZ flight details and the actual operator together. An old Alitalia record or another airline's ticket receipt should not be assumed to identify the company responsible for today's ITA flight.
Use ITA's current help and compensation route
Open ITA's Help and contact page and choose the compensation or post-travel complaint option for the flight change or disruption. Use the current page rather than an old email address copied from a forum. Enter the affected date, route and booking and separate a ticket refund from delay compensation. If ITA moved you onto another carrier, retain both itineraries so the claim identifies the original cancellation and the replacement transport clearly.
Fiumicino connections and train segments
Show whether the domestic feeder and international flight were on one reservation. If your journey also included a train, label it separately; a rail delay is not automatically an airline delay under EU261. For a refusal based on a schedule change, compare the first notification date with departure and keep the proposed alternative's times. For an airport or weather explanation, ask what prevented this flight from operating and what replacement options were investigated.
Italian operator, EU arrivals and follow-up
ITA-operated services departing the EU or arriving into the EU from a third country can fall under EU261. UK departures and qualifying UK arrivals also call for a UK261 check. A partner codeshare needs an operator-specific assessment. ITA's contact page does not provide a verified universal average for resolving compensation claims, so we do not promise payment in a fixed number of days. Save the submitted text, acknowledgement and written decision for any further complaint.
