YYZ: connections and disruption help

Toronto Pearson's connection procedure depends on where you arrive from and where you fly next. Use the airport's connection guide with the actual replacement itinerary, especially when rerouting adds or changes a US sector.

Check security and customs for your exact connection

Pearson does not require every connecting passenger to repeat the same checks. Its guide explains whether the selected journey involves a terminal change, customs or another security screening. Enter the new flights after rebooking instead of relying on instructions for the original itinerary. Keep the issued boarding passes available while asking staff which connection signs apply.

A through-tag does not always eliminate bag collection

The airport warns that even a bag tagged to the next or final destination may need collection and placement on a connection belt. A bag without that onward tag must be collected and checked in again. Ask the airline which procedure applies to your arrival. If a replacement flight departs from another terminal, clarify the suitcase's transfer separately from your own.

Distinguish Terminal Link from the whole connection

Pearson's free Terminal Link train connects Terminals 1 and 3 and Viscount station. Its journey is only one part of a terminal change; it does not account for immigration, bag handling or security. For a missed connection, record the arrival terminal, any baggage instructions and the replacement gate. Save the airline's message explaining the change alongside your final arrival time.

Departing from YYZ

Departure from Toronto Pearson International Airport alone does not create a fixed EU261 or UK261 band. An arrival into the EU/EEA/Switzerland or UK may require the operating carrier's status to be checked.

Arriving at YYZ

If YYZ is the final destination, keep the scheduled and actual door-open or arrival record. Coverage can come from the departure country or operating carrier rather than this airport's location.
