Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) passenger rights
Practical preparation for a delay, cancellation or missed connection involving Warsaw. Start with the complete ticketed journey and operating airline—not the airport name alone.

WAW: connections and disruption help
Warsaw Chopin is LOT's main transfer hub. Use WAW on every replacement confirmation: Warsaw Modlin is a separate airport, so a search result labelled only “Warsaw” is not enough to plan your recovery.
Use the Transfer Center when the onward pass is missing
LOT's Warsaw guidance directs passengers without the next boarding pass to its Transfer Center and describes a self-check-in option for some other-airline connections. Follow the signs from your arrival bridge or bus to the appropriate transfer route. If a delay triggers an automatic rebooking, verify the new flight in the reservation before walking towards the original gate.
A Schengen change can add a checkpoint
A Polish domestic flight or a flight to a Schengen country has a different border route from an onward flight outside Schengen. Show staff the actual destination and travel documents; an international-to-international itinerary is not enough information to establish the route. Check where the suitcase is tagged, particularly if the onward airline is different or you bought the tickets separately.
Assess an airport change as a separate proposal
If a replacement uses WMI, ask about the road journey, checked bags and new check-in deadline before agreeing. For a lost long-haul connection, keep the original one-booking itinerary, arrival gate or remote-stand details, transfer-counter advice and replacement arrival time. If the airline proposes a stopover or hotel, record whether that was assistance after the disruption or a voluntary extension you chose; the costs need different explanations.

Departing from WAW
A journey departing Warsaw Chopin Airport normally starts with the EU261 route test. The operating carrier, final ticketed destination, timing and airline-recorded cause still determine the next step.
Arriving at WAW
For a flight arriving at WAW from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, identify whether the operating airline is an EU/EEA/Swiss carrier. The marketing airline on the ticket may be different.
