MCT: connections and disruption help

Muscat International Airport's transfer area is designed to handle passengers who need an onward boarding pass or help after a missed connection. Use that process before deciding to enter Oman.

Use the transfer counters for a missing onward pass

The airport specifically identifies transfer counters for travellers without a connecting boarding pass, missed connections and other assistance. Explain whether your onward flight remains confirmed or needs replacement. All transferring passengers pass a security screening area, including a hand-luggage check. Keep travel documents accessible and check the new gate once the airline has issued a replacement boarding pass.

Through-checking and an Oman stopover are separate decisions

Muscat advises confirming baggage through-checking with the airline at the original check-in. Read the final destination on the receipt before assuming your suitcase will follow you. If a disruption becomes a stopover outside the airport, confirm entry eligibility and whether the airline will release the bag. The airport FAQ directs visa questions to Royal Oman Police; an overnight hotel suggestion is not itself entry permission.

Describe the missed connection precisely

For a claim or complaint, distinguish the time you landed in Muscat from the time you reached the transfer counter. Retain the original connecting reservation and the replacement issued there. Ask staff to record the reason for rerouting and the handling of meals or accommodation. If an item was left in the terminal, use airport lost-property assistance rather than treating it automatically as delayed checked baggage.

Departing from MCT

Departure from Muscat International Airport alone does not create a fixed EU261 or UK261 band. An arrival into the EU/EEA/Switzerland or UK may require the operating carrier's status to be checked.

Arriving at MCT

If MCT is the final destination, keep the scheduled and actual door-open or arrival record. Coverage can come from the departure country or operating carrier rather than this airport's location.
