DUB: connections and disruption help
Dublin's US preclearance makes some transatlantic connections different from an ordinary departure. Confirm whether your specific US flight uses the facility; the airport says most direct US departures from Terminal 2 do, but not every flight.
Preclearance adds a stage before boarding
Allow for airport security, US processing and the boarding deadline, rather than treating the gate as the only remaining step. Check the displayed preclearance instructions for your flight and retain any airline message moving the check-in or departure time. If an inbound delay makes the US connection doubtful, contact the airline before leaving the connection route to seek an alternative on your own.
Use the connection instructions for your terminal and time
Dublin publishes different directions for connecting and self-connecting passengers, and its Terminal 1 connection route has stated operating hours. Check that guide for the time you actually arrive. Ask whether the next boarding pass is available and whether your bag will transfer. If required to enter the public arrivals area, reassess the remaining check-in and screening time.
Keep the US and European stages distinct
Record when you reached the connection area, any preclearance or airline desk instruction, and the rerouting that was offered. A cancellation after US processing is not proof that you have already reached the United States; ask staff how to return to the correct airport area or retrieve bags. If the replacement changes from a precleared service to another routing, reconfirm the entry and baggage procedures for the new itinerary.

Departing from DUB
A journey departing Dublin Airport normally starts with the EU261 route test. The operating carrier, final ticketed destination, timing and airline-recorded cause still determine the next step.
Arriving at DUB
For a flight arriving at DUB from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, identify whether the operating airline is an EU/EEA/Swiss carrier. The marketing airline on the ticket may be different.
