DPS: connections and disruption help

Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport uses DPS, the Denpasar code. Domestic and international travel use different terminal areas. For a disrupted Bali connection, save the specific airport and terminal rather than describing the event only as a late flight to Indonesia.

An Indonesian onward flight changes the transfer process

If an international arrival connects to a domestic destination, ask the airline how immigration, customs and baggage recheck fit into the connection. Garuda's official DPS map shows domestic and international transfer routes. The map does not guarantee a connection on separately purchased tickets. Show staff the onward booking before following an exit, particularly if the original flight arrived too late for its planned transfer.

Keep resort travel outside the flight-arrival record

A hotel arrival in Ubud, Nusa Dua or another Bali resort is not the same timestamp as arrival at DPS. Record both when useful, but label them clearly. If the airline diverts you to another airport, request written transport arrangements to the booked destination and retain the diversion notice. Do not silently replace the original DPS destination in the evidence with the airport used by the replacement flight.

Preserve notices explaining any airport interruption

If the airline attributes disruption to an airport closure or a safety restriction, save its dated message and any matching official airport announcement. Ask which operating period affected your flight instead of assuming a general Bali travel headline proves the reason. Retain new boarding passes and separately document necessary overnight accommodation, any airline vouchers and the steps offered to continue the journey.

Departing from DPS

Departure from Denpasar I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport alone does not create a fixed EU261 or UK261 band. An arrival into the EU/EEA/Switzerland or UK may require the operating carrier's status to be checked.

Arriving at DPS

If DPS is the final destination, keep the scheduled and actual door-open or arrival record. Coverage can come from the departure country or operating carrier rather than this airport's location.
