ARN: connections and disruption help

Stockholm Arlanda's former Terminal 4 is integrated with Terminal 5. Old advice to leave one terminal and clear security again for every domestic-to-international change can therefore be misleading; follow the current gate and transfer instructions.

Use the current terminal connections

Swedavia describes the connected gate areas and separate transport options around the airport. The public Arlanda Express link between terminal stations is not the same as an airside gate transfer. Ask staff which route applies before leaving security, particularly for a change involving Terminal 2 or a non-Schengen departure. A boarding pass issued for a replacement flight may alter both the gate area and required border checks.

Keep Arlanda distinct from other Stockholm airports

An offer labelled “Stockholm” may need an airport-code check. ARN is not Bromma or Skavsta. If the replacement uses a different airport, ask for the ground-transfer plan and baggage handover before acceptance. Do not assume an existing Arlanda rail ticket or parking booking will serve the revised airport without further travel or cost.

Baggage belongs with the handling airline

Swedavia states that it does not have access to airlines' passenger or baggage information. Use the airline or its handler for a missing or retagged bag, while airport staff help with location and facilities. Keep the ARN bag tag, handler reference, original and replacement gate information, and any direction to use the public terminal transport. These records distinguish a delayed suitcase from a flight delay or missed connection.

Departing from ARN

A journey departing Stockholm-Arlanda Airport normally starts with the EU261 route test. The operating carrier, final ticketed destination, timing and airline-recorded cause still determine the next step.

Arriving at ARN

For a flight arriving at ARN from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland, identify whether the operating airline is an EU/EEA/Swiss carrier. The marketing airline on the ticket may be different.
